THE DARK KNIGHT RISES - 1:12 Scale Statues of Batman, Catwoman, and Bane

DC Direct just announced a set of three brand-new 1:12 scale statues to be released BEFORE "The Dark Knight Rises" Batman Movie comes out on July 20th, 2012. They're all sculpted by Artist David Cortes. Of course the 3 characters will be Batman, Catwoman, and Bane. They are all full-figure pieces with a base or small piece of Gotham City. Oh yeah, duh, the Release date will be July 4th. An easy date for some of us Americans to remember because it's Independence Day, the birth of our nation ( Is Nolan going all "political on us" in this 3rd film? ). The Retail Price will be about 80 bucks, each.

DC NATION - Wallpaper Background of Superman, Batman and Robin!

Using a recent promo image from DC Comics I made this fresh new DC NATION WALLPAPER to brighten your desktop background! Actually, this graphic is meant to sort of celebrate the new programming over at the Cartoon Network. It seems they're going Superhero Crazy over there! Oh yeah, these "clay figures" of Superman, Batman, and Robin are a part of a segment filmed by Aardman Animation Studios, the people responsible for UK's "Wallace and Gromit". Also, remember that we always have the most recent DC NATION Promo Video Clips on our BAT-BLOG YouTube Page ( Button located on the top right-hand side ).

WE CAN BE HEROES - The Justice League Joins The Fight To Help End The Hunger Crisis in the Horn of Africa

DC Entertainment and Warner Brothers have created a Campaign to help fight the hunger crisis in the Horn of Africa. It's called "WE CAN BE HEROES" and it will use the JUSTICE LEAGUE characters as a vehicle (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg).

WE CAN BE HEROES will support the efforts of three humanitarian aid organizations working in Africa: Save the Children, International Rescue Committee and Mercy Corps.

The region is suffering its worst drought and famine in over 60 years, with 13 million in need of critical assistance and 250,000 facing starvation in Somalia alone.

Basically, if I got the information right, DC Entertainment will match each dollar donated until two million dollars has been distributed over the next two years. One way they will be raising funds is through the sale of special merchandise. This includes a WE CAN BE HEROES T-Shirt ( shown up above ), an iPhone Cover, Water Bottle, and Ceramic Coffee Mug. You can make direct donations, learn more about the project, or purchase the special items via their WE CAN BE HEROES website, click here.

OK, Mattel keeps cranking out all these cool Batman products I can't afford to keep up with, ha! But, here's something pretty cool that I might have to go without food for!

Here's a specially Boxed 4-Pack of some brand-new 2011 HOT WHEELS DC COMICS ORIGINALS NOSTALGIA SERIES Diecast Cars. Inside the cool window box are custom rides for Robin, The Penguin, Catwoman, and Batman! The designs are pretty cool, click on the photo above for more detail. Now, I don't really have any more info on these right now. Like, are they in stores now? But they're popping-up on evil eBay so I guess so. No idea on price either, but I'm guessing the retail price is probably around the $25 range.

We featured some of the earlier ones here on the BAT-BLOG.COM and if you'd like to see those then just CLICK HERE!

Vintage BATMAN DC SUPERHERO Food Product Packaging

As a Serious BATMAN Collector I go completely goo-goo over "Food Products", ha ha! I mean, they're usually items you consumed as a little kid so they bring back a lot of nostalgic memories. Plus, I love the Packaging Design ( Fonts, Graphics, etc... )

Here are a few random examples:

The 1st image are 2 different BATMAN PEANUT BUTTER Jars. The one on the left is from ©1966 ( glass jar, metal lid ) and the other one is from ©1978 ( all plastic ). Cool Graphics!

Next up is a box of Nabisco DC SUPERHEROES Cookies. OK, totally wonderful vintage graphics from ©1982. It's funny how this artwork almost seems "retro" now, ha!

Then we have 2 different advertisements: The 1st one is pretty special because this appeared in Retail Store Sales Brochures in Finland. Yes, Finland! Back in the 1960's they had BATMAN Soda Pop and finding one of these extremely rare bottles today is like the Holy Grail of collecting.

Last, but not least, is a more current Magazine Ad for DC SUPERHERO Kraft Macaroni and Cheese. There were 3 different boxes of the Trinity: Superman, Wonder Woman, and Batman. These were made ©1998 and were kind of tied into the Batman TV Cartoon of the time. I actually remember buying these when they were in stores and the pasta was in "Superhero" shapes, ha!

OK, Do YOU have any Rare unusual "Batman Food Products" in YOUR collection? If so then shoot us some pics today. Remember: Sharing the love of collecting is what the Bat-Blog.Com is all about!

Right now many Creative Bat-Blog Readers are thinking of a hundred uses: Custom Shirts, Dresses, Handbags, Quilts, Baby Blankets, etc... but my idea is that this stuff would make very excellent curtains, ha!

Jennifer sent us some amazing examples of the diversity of design they all have but I gotta say that the very 1st photo is my personal favorite. I love that all-over design & the clip art they used. Of course, the other ones with a simple Bat-Symbol Logo could be great for for projects too. ( Thank You Jennifer ). Hey, if anybody makes some stuff outta this fabric then please let us know. This fabric should be available at your neighborhood Fabric Store, but if not, then contact the place where Jennifer gets hers, just click HERE!

New BATMAN CEREAL BOX - DC Comics Promo By General Mills

Here's a new "Batman Product" you might keep an eye out for on your next shopping trip to the Grocery Store. General Mills Cereals is running a promo with DC Comics to promote the JUSTICE LEAGUE characters. They have a neat Cereal Box with some small "DC Comics" graphics on the front, but the cool thing is that one of the boxes has a large cut-out mask of Batman on the back! Also, FREE INSIDE, is a really great mini-size comic book. It's actually very decent quality measuring about 5" X 7" with 12 pages. The grade of the paper & color printing is really nice. I was sort of impressed with it as a cereal premium. There are 4 books to collect. I got Issue #2, shown here.

NEW BATMAN CHESS Board Game - DC COLLECTION by UK Eaglemoss

For our friends in England, the UK Eaglemoss Company has just announced a brand-new product called the "DC CHESS COLLECTION". Which is kinda weird because basically it's a BATMAN CHESS SET! They pretty much sell the game pieces one at a time ( I think you have to subscribe ) & each piece comes with a special magazine featuring origin stories of that character. They have already announced the 1st five Characters / Game Pieces ( shown here ) & teased about the next three ( Catwoman, Red Hood, & Hush ). The 5 include: Batman, Robin, Joker, Commissioner Gordon, & Two-Face. I scanned their website like crazy trying to find out how tall these pieces are, but nothing, sorry. There will also be a special BATMAN SYMBOL Game Board & a FREE binder to hold your magazines. For more information, just click HERE!
