OK, The Viral Marketing for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES finally kicked in! The website they created to start everything, OPERATION EARLY BIRD, has posted a map of the world ( mostly the USA ) where you can get details for the PROLOGUE to the film to be presented at IMAX Movie Theaters on December 13th, 2011, at 10:00 pm. I was there when the timer went off and I guess it crashed from so many visitors? Ha Ha! But here's a MAP to check out the locations. None of them are remotely close to me so I guess some of us will have to wait until it's shown online. It will probably be the 1st few minutes of the movie. They did this with THE DARK KNIGHT and it was the "Bank Robbery" scene, about 5 or 7 minutes if I remember right. Stay tuned to the BAT-BLOG.COM for more DARK KNIGHT RISES Viral Marketing News!
Today is the day that the rumored OPERATION EARLY BIRD Viral Marketing Website for THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Batman Movie is supposed to break open and here's what happened. I waited at the computer for about 45 minutes waiting for this event. Watching the countdown timer for the last few minutes was completely nerve-breaking, ha ha!
OK, it got down to the last few seconds & then, POW! We got NOTHING! The site actually went totally blank white, ha! So, I went to the Official "THE DARK KNIGHT RISES" website and there was a weird Audio Clip playing. The recording gives a HUGE list of strange random numbers. I guess we gotta figure them out. Recently, at a few select websites ( Wired, for one ) a graphic that looks like a "CIA Leaked Memo" featuring a Nuclear Physicist named Dr. Leonid Pavel began to surface. The photo is really an Actor that we all know will be in the next Batman movie, THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.
Well, the photo led to a few other clues and now there's this website called "OPERATION EARLY BIRD". On that site there is nothing but a countdown timer ( at the time of this writing it has about an hour or so to go! ) and then that might lead to another clue. Some are expecting maybe a new movie trailer ( Let's hope that's the case, ha! ). So, the question is... Is this the beginning of a brand-new Viral Marketing Promotion by Warner Bros for the new movie?
I remember the one for THE DARK KNIGHT and it was a great success, a lot of fun, and they gave away some very cool prizes. Stay tuned to the Bat-Blog.Com for all your V.M. News!
