Awhile back, I received an email about a very cool future Bat-Event, BURT WARD ( The Actor who played "Robin, The Boy Wonder" on the 1966 BATMAN TV Series ) was being interviewed on the Nightwatch Radio Podcast. Awesome! Except, because of an internet glitch, I never got this news. Then the event happened and I only had time to post it on the Bat-Blog Facebook page just an hour or two before it happened. So some people got to hear it "LIVE" and many did not. I want to apologize to both my Readers and the Pod-casters for this screw-up. Hey, I'm extremely good looking but NOT perfect, ha!Anyways, here's the good news! The Podcast Interview was recorded and can now be either listened to or downloaded at their website. When visiting the site be sure to click on their "AUDIO CHAMBER" Link Button and look for the "ROBIN, BURT WARD" item listed for 1-17-12.Oh yeah, for their website, click HERE!

I know people who collect nothing but what they call "Bootleg Batman". These are usually toys and comic books that are not true licensed products and most of the time they're "foreign". Personally I don't consider them "real bat-items", and usually stay away from them, but if I come across some wacky item at a Garage Sale for real cheap I'm always a sucker, ha! Some of the toys are just way too fun! But, here's a great example of some comics. Here are some Vintage BATMAN Comic Book Reprints that were made in Argentina. They appear to be from the 1940's which is pretty cool! The name of the book is PIF-PAF, El Campeon De La Historieta! Which, Google Translate says that means, "Cartoon Champion". In one of the books they reprinted the famous "BATMAN Presents Robin, The Boy Wonder" Origin Story. The Title Page says, "EL MURCIELAGO Presenta A ROBIN, El Nino Temperario!" Ha! I love the sound of that!
I just realized the other day that we have not posted any cool Vintage BATMAN Toys in awhile so here we go! SPOILER ALERT: These photos are gonna make you both drool and cry! First up is this Ultra-Rare 1960's ROBIN HAND PUPPET in the original packaging. It was made by Ideal Toys in 1966. This Puppet is kinda hard to find just "loose" but getting it "Mint in Box" is worthy of putting in a Toy Museum!
Next, is another RARE item and it's also kinda fun. This is a 1966 BATMAN AND ROBIN TOY PRIZE Header Card that showed what toy premiums you could win in a Gumball Vending Machine. Wow! They were only 10 cents! I know I would have begged my Mom for a Dime, or two, or three, ha!
Last, but not least, is an ultra super-rare BATMAN TOY that I have to admit, in 20+ years of extremely serious bat-collecting, I have never EVER seen before! This was on evil eBay awhile back and I almost cried when I saw it. It's an extremely weird toy, sort of a thin-plastic BAT-A-RANG on a string! It's shown here still in it's original box & the retro-style graphics are wonderful!! It sold for quite a bit and whoever owns it better take good care of it, ha!
OK, I hope you've enjoyed some of these cool toys. Do YOU have an ultra-rare bat-item or a piece you just completely love? If so, then please shoot us a photo today. Remember: Sharing the love of Collecting BATMAN is what the BAT-BLOG.COM is all about!!

Just recently, on evil eBay, a Rare ROBIN The Boy Wonder PEZ CANDY Dispenser Prototype sold for $1540.00, wow! Back in the 1970's the PEZ CANDY Company came out with a set of DC Comics Superhero Dispensers. They made Batman, Batgirl, Wonder Woman, The Joker, and The Penguin. Now that was not a big deal really. They came out with new characters all the time. But the thing about these that were special were that they had "rubber heads" instead of the regular hard plastic ones. PEZ experimented with this on occasion & there are a few "Rubber Heads" out there. I don't know if they were created for safety reasons or to lower the cost of production, who knows. But as a manufacturing company PEZ needed to create promotional literature to send to Retail Store chains so these places would order their product. So, from time to time, they would make these "fake PEZ" for the photographs, usually, before production happened. Most of the time they had already created a mold in which to make the product. OK, for a promo photo they added some ROBIN PEZ that they were considering. Why he was dropped nobody knows but my guess is that they thought he would not sell very well ( everybody will want "Batman" ) or they wanted a "Girl PEZ" to make sure that Moms bought these toys for their Daughters too. That might explain the weird fact that there is a "Wonder Woman" mixed in with all these Batman characters. So now this long-winded story ( sorry ) gets to the modern-day Auction. This eBay Seller had somehow come across this RARE "Robin" Prototype that was still "MINT in Original Package" & never produced on a large scale. Like, I don't know the exact numbers, but they might have only made 10 of these & then how many of these exist today? So, in both the PEZ collecting world and Batman Memorabilia this ROBIN PEZ is super-rare!

Here at the BAT-BLOG.COM we recently asked Loyal Fans to please please send us their "Batman Halloween Costume" pics from both the past & present. Here are some great examples of EXTREMELY COOL Vintage Photos! The 1st one is from our Friend Joey. These 2 images show him and his Wife from when they were both little kids. I totally love these, they're so AWESOME! He was Batman & she was Batgirl, how cool is that?! The next pic was sent in by our good buddy Marc. This was his "Robin, The Boy Wonder" Halloween Costume from back in 1974. I've always thought that homemade outfits are really great because of the love & care that goes into them... very well made! Thanks to everybody who sent us pics. There will be more posted almost every day till Halloween!! Plus, YOU still have time to send YOURS in!
