Just recently, here at the BAT-BLOG.COM, we have got emails from Brazil, Germany, England, and the Netherlands! Oh man, I totally love the Internet! It's so cool to connect with other Serious Batman Fans from around the world. Like the content of this post, here are some wonderful photos of a very cool BATMAN TOYS AND MEMORABILIA Collection from México City!
All this great stuff belongs to our Friend, Diego. He's been collecting since around the age of 8 ( He's now 22 ) and his favorite items in his collection are some neat Plush Toys. He said that he won them at the Six Flags Theme Park in Mexico. I have to admit that my favorite item, if I had to pick one, in all these pics is that HUGE GIANT-SIZE ACE, THE BAT-HOUND!! That thing is cool! But really everything here is great! Diego has a very nice collection of Action Figures, Statues, T-Shirts, Batmobiles, Graphic Novels, Comic Books, etc... I think it's really neat to see other people's collections. I wanna thank Diego for taking the time to shoot these fun pics, I really appreciate that, "Muchas Gracias Diego!!"
Here's a crazy video clip I came across on YouTube the other day. It's a musical skit performed on the "Carlos Imperial" TV Show (1979) in Brazil. They had costumed Superheroes like Superman, batman, Robin, etc... performing in Disco-Style, "We Are All Super Friends!". It's extremely surreal and crazzzzy, check it out!!
Here's a wonderful vintage family photo taken nearly 34 years ago, March 19th, 1978. This was sent to us from our Friend Carlos who lives in Mexico. Carlos is shown here as Batman! The event was his Brother Ivan's 1st Birthday. Ivan had a great costume too. He was Robin, The Boy Wonder! You can see him sitting on the table. This Costume Party was put together by their Mother and the sweet thing is that she made all the costumes by hand. Homemade costumes are so much better than store-bought ones because there is a lot of LOVE put into them. She did a great job here. Carlos, Thanks for sharing your special photo and when your Brother Ivan has a birthday soon then please tell him we said, "Happy Birthday, Robin!"
OK, here where I live it's raining and sort of gloomy so I thought it would be a good idea to maybe help brighten someone's day. here are some hilarious pictures & photos sent in to us by our AWESOME Readership! Yes, people submit great stuff and if the BAT-BLOG.COM is any good at all then it's because of them, Thanks Everybody!! Oh yeah, just to be clear, we got that photo of Adam West, from Adam West! ( Thank You, Sir!! You're still a Good Citizen! ). Whoops, One last thing, that picture of Batgirl & the 3 Robins climbing the wall, that's a GREAT parody of the movie poster for "Adventures in Babysitting", Ha Ha!
Using a recent promo image from DC Comics I made this fresh new DC NATION WALLPAPER to brighten your desktop background! Actually, this graphic is meant to sort of celebrate the new programming over at the Cartoon Network. It seems they're going Superhero Crazy over there! Oh yeah, these "clay figures" of Superman, Batman, and Robin are a part of a segment filmed by Aardman Animation Studios, the people responsible for UK's "Wallace and Gromit". Also, remember that we always have the most recent DC NATION Promo Video Clips on our BAT-BLOG YouTube Page ( Button located on the top right-hand side ).
Being a little kid during the 1966 BATMAN TV Show was a great time to be alive! No matter how you felt about the Television Series the marketing was insane and they made a TON of cool Batman Toys and Collectibles! This week's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" is sort of inspired by that. These Bat-Backgrounds were made using photos of 2 very cool pieces of 60's merchandise, Vinyl Placemats, featuring graphics of Batman and Robin, The Boy Wonder! Actually, the one of "Robin" better represents the real product as the item was a die-cut image of the figure & the cape made-up most of the surface area... but you get the idea!
In these two brand-new AUTHORIZED Promo Video Clips from Warner Bros, we get to see THE NEW TEEN TITANS that will be aired as part of their DC NATION on the Cartoon Network. Look for it to hit Saturday, March 3rd, 2012 at 10:00 am (ET/PT).
Cartoon Network, Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment are teaming up to present DC Nation, a full hour of exclusive kids' television programming and shorts based on DC Comics characters. Full of action and humor, DC Nation brings some of the most beloved and legendary heroes — as well as some lesser-known cult favorites — from the pages of DC Comics to the screens of a whole new generation of fans. Anchored by Green Lantern: The Animated Series and Young Justice, DC Nation will premiere Saturday, March 3, at 10 a.m. (ET, PT).
Rounding out this branded block of original programming will be a number of shorts featuring DC Comics super heroes and characters as you have never seen them before. With fresh designs and concepts, fan favorites such as Plastic Man and Doom Patrol will finally take center stage next to the likes of Wonder Woman and Teen Titans. Bringing them to life will be the result of a collaboration with some of the top talents in the animation industry, which include award-winning Aardman Studios (Arthur Christmas, Wallace and Gromit) with its stop-motion clay animation techniques, and the unique direction and character designs of Lauren Faust (The Powerpuff Girls, My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic). In addition to these shorts, DC Nation will also feature event programming, interstitials, exclusive behind-the-scenes looks at theatrical motion pictures and an insider look into the world of all things DC Comics.
It been a while since we last featured some cool Vintage BATMAN Toys on the BAT-BLOG.COM. So, Here We GO! The general theme is "Toy Collector Reference Photos" of cool Bat-items from the 1960's. This has always been a favorite era of toy collecting for me. With the popularity of the 1966 TV Show they really went crazy with the merchandising and today there's a TON of great items to try and hunt down!
The 1st photo is an extremely RARE Batman Bobblehead Nodder that was made in Japan. Now, some people might say it's kinda ugly but that's a huge part of it's charm, the "cheesy factor", ha!
Next up is a fun toy that I used to totally love, a 1966 BATMAN Magic Slate. Today I remember these from my childhood and they were super exciting, for about 10 minutes. But I've always loved the graphics on these things. I'm showing 2 different ones here so you can see what I mean. Plus, they're also great for display because they hang on the wall so easily.
Now we come to the 4th picture and it's so beautiful!! Here's a '66 BATMAN Flashlight on it's original Blister Card. Just the toy itself is pretty cool but those awesome graphics on the packaging would have caught my eye as a little kid in 2 seconds, very cool!
Speaking of cool graphics, the last item shown here is this Arts and Crafts Toy made by Hasbro called "RUB-ONS". This one was themed with the Dynamic Duo and had rub-transfer decals you could add to a page to make fun artwork.
It's time again Boys and Girls for Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday! Yes, this week I thought we could celebrate the "Silver Age of Comics"! These 2 Free BATMAN WALLPAPERS were made from hi-res scans of a few vintage comic book covers. They both feature the Dynamic Duo and one even has Batgirl.
Here's a few random funny BATMAN-related Humor Photos that will, hopefully, brighten your day! The 1st one is a great parody on THE DARK KNIGHT RISES Movie Poster. Next-up is a screenshot ( Thanks BatDave ) from TV's "Big Bang Theory" showing Sheldon with a Vintage-Style BATMAN T-Shirt. OK, it's not really funny unless you're a fan of the show. Then, it's hilarious! Then the last photo is some NAIL ART inspired by Vintage Comic Books ( very well done ).
Here's a fun Batman item to keep an eye out for! Shown here are two brand-new BATMAN Activity Books made by Lee Publications for 2012. The idea is to use your Magic Invisible Ink Pen to fill in the dotted areas revealing invisibly printed pictures and answers. Then match your stickers to the appropriate spot. The books each measure about 5 1/2" x 8 1/8" with 23 pages of adventure! You can find them at many retail stores but I was told that they're actually cheaper to buy directly from their website, just click HERE!
To promote his New Brand of GENTLE GIANTS WORLD CLASS CANINE CUISINE Dog Food, Burt Ward will be appearing LIVE this weekend at the Wal-Mart Super Center in Baldwin Park, CA! He'll be there both days, Saturday, January 28th & Sunday, the 29th (2012). The schedule is 9:00 am till 4:00 pm, each day! With every purchase of a Bag of GENTLE GIANT Dog Food you'll also get a FREE Autographed Photo of "Robin, the Boy Wonder"! Plus, they will have a 1966 Batmobile Car on-site where you can get your picture taken in the Driver's Seat. YES, you can actually SIT INSIDE THE BATMOBILE, ha! So, bring the Kids and your camera!!
For this week's "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" I thought I would post some FREE BATMAN WALLPAPERS with a Bat-History Theme. Basically, we're covering there major moments: The Golden Age 1940's with the Batman Serial Movie, the 1966 Batman TV Show, and a more Modern-Day version, "Batman: Noel" the Graphic Novel. Please choose which ever one you like the best and if you totally hate them all, ha ha, then please click the button down below for ALL the recent Backgrounds we have posted:
OK, I'm not exactly sure where this BATMAN AND ROBIN Wall Mural is, I'm thinking maybe Argentina, but it's AWESOME! It looks like it was done on the side of an Old Barn & it's HUGE! It sort of makes a statement about how "Batman and Robin" have been Crime-Fighting Partners, for over 70 years! Ha Ha Ha! I love this thing! Have you seen any cool Graffiti Art celebrating the Dark Knight? If so, please send us some pics & also let us know where you saw it.
Here's a video a Friend sent us on Facebook that I knew I had to share! ( Thanks Jeff ) It's a very well-made fan-film titled BATMAN: DEATH WISH. The Sets, Costume Design, and Editing are all very decent! I mean, I'm sure they didn't have a million-dollar budget but they do a very nice job here. Plus, more importantly, the Actors can actually ACT, ha!
Yesterday was "Wacky Wallpaper Wednesday" and I didn't post because I was way too busy in my real-life, ha ha! So, here are some beautiful BATMAN AND ROBIN Wallpapers to make up for it! The first one, of BATMAN, has a "Brave and the Bold Cartoon" vibe, while the ROBIN one (Damian) is from the recent comic books. Enjoy! Also, be sure to check out our BAT-BLOG ARCHIVES for many many more Bat-Backgrounds (Located on the far-left side of this page, about the middle ).
